Licences & compliance

The right practitioner and paperwork depend on the work.

New Zealand does not have one renovation licence that covers every trade or project. We identify the relevant responsibilities as the scope develops.

Licensed Building Practitioners

Jincheng Yu is currently listed on the official LBP register as BP177516, Carpentry class. Restricted Building Work must be carried out or supervised by an LBP licensed in the appropriate class for that work.

Building and resource consent

Requirements depend on the property and scope. We identify likely questions early, but the relevant council and project professionals determine what approvals are required.

Registered specialist trades

Electrical, plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying work is coordinated with appropriately registered practitioners where required.

Residential building contracts

Projects at or above the statutory threshold require prescribed disclosure and contract documentation. Scope, variations, payments and responsibilities should always be recorded clearly.

Building Code obligations

Building work must comply with the New Zealand Building Code even where a building consent exemption may apply.

Handover records

Applicable Records of Work, certificates, warranties, council documentation and maintenance information are assembled according to the project scope.

Discuss the compliance pathway early.

A site assessment helps identify likely consent, design, engineering and registered-trade inputs before final pricing.
